45 Gallon Drum Tipper Description
This 45 Gallon drum tipper is a single pillar drum tipper that is designed to lift
and tip at a discharge height of 1400mm. The 45 Gallon drum tipper is constructed
from Grade 304 stainless steel, is fully TIG welded throughout and will operate
on a 'dead mans handle' principle. Lifting with the 45 Gallon drum tipper is achieved
by a ¾” Simplex chain driven by a motor gearbox mounted at the top of the main column.
The 45 Gallon drum tipper is designed to be bolted to the floor.
Safety Guard to PD 5304:2005 Safety of Machinery
The safety guard is constructed from 40 x 40 x 3mm stainless steel box section and
3mm wire, 40mm aperture stainless steel weld mesh to meet the requirements of PD
5304:2005 Safety of Machinery. It encloses the 45 Gallon drum tipper to a height
of 2200mm on two sides, 1400mm at the front, with a hinged door on the fourth side.
The guard door is electrically and mechanically interlocked preventing the 45 Gallon
drum tipper from operating with the door open. In addition, the guard door can only
be opened when the lifting carriage is at the full down position. The 45 Gallon
drum tipper control system has provision for a ‘Call for Product’ signal to be connected.

45 Gallon Drum Tipper Application Story
This 45 Gallon drum tipper was used to lift and tip a solid 45 Gallon drum full
of margarine into a melting vessel. Because the margarine was a solid core, the
drum had to be retained with a clamping mechanism. This clamping mechanism had to
be monitored via a magnetic guard switch to ensure that the clamp was closed prior
to lifting and tipping.
