Automated Pallet Lift Description
This automated pallet lift is a double pillar machine with a Safe Working Load of
1500 Kgs and a lift height of 5060mm. The pallets were fed onto the lifting platform
via a powered roller track system. The lifting platform was also fitted with a powered
roller track system. At the upper level, the pallets were driven out of the lifting
platform automatically onto a further powered roller track system. The automated
pallet lift was constructed from mild steel with a painted finish and was bolted
to the floor and the concrete mezzanine floor that it was feeding. Lifting with
this automated pallet lift is accomplished via chains driven by a motor gearbox
mounted at the top of the one column with a crossover shaft to the other column.
Safety Guard to PD 5304:2005 Safety of Machinery
This automated pallet lift was mounted into an existing lift shaft and only the
loading and unloading apertures required guarding to meet the requirements of PD
5304:2005 Safety of Machinery. At the ground floor level, there was a powered roller
track system which fed pallets into the lifting carriage which was guarded using
40 x 40 x 3mm mild steel box section and 40mm aperture, 3mm wire mild steel weld
mesh. At the upper level, there was a powered roller track system which fed pallets
from the lift. This system was fitted with a safety guard constructed from 40 x
40 x 3mm mild steel box section and 40mm aperture, 3mm wire mild steel weld mesh.

Automated Pallet Lift Application Story
This automated pallet lift was required to lift Cardboard Palletainers of frozen
vegetables up to a mezzanine floor packing hall. The palletainers were loaded onto
a powered roller track system and automatically fed into the lifting carriage. At
the upper level, the palletainers were driven out onto another powered roller track
system. This automated pallet lift had a ‘Z’ loading configuration so that the palletainers
were loaded at the front and unloaded at the back of the machine at the upper level.
This automated pallet lift was mounted in an existing lift shaft which already had
a pit but normally, it can be mounted on an existing floor and does not require
a pit.
