Stainless Steel Lift
BTM/350/1528&2769/B/G
Stainless Steel Lift Description
This stainless steel lift was designed to lift and tip an integral skip at a discharge height of either 1528mm or 2769mm. The stainless steel lift is constructed from Grade 304 stainless steel and is fully TIG welded throughout. Lifting with the stainless steel lift is achieved by a ¾” Duplex chain driven by a motor gearbox mounted at the top of the main column. This stainless steel lift is designed to be bolted to the floor.
Under normal circumstances the stainless steel lift would operate in sequence with a Modular Conveyor Belt. The 300 Litre Hopper would be loaded automatically via the conveyor and the product would be lifted and tipped at the upper tipping position. If however the inspector has to reject the product, it would be necessary for the operator to operate a push button adjacent to his workstation, which would cause a pneumatic cylinder to bring an alternate tipping cam into engagement. This would cause the stainless steel lift to tip at the lower tip height of 1528mm thereby enabling the reject product to be segregated.
Safety Guard to PD 5304:2005 Safety of Machinery
This stainless steel lift operation was automated and it was therefore essential that it is guarded. The safety guard is constructed from 40 x 40 x 3mm stainless steel box section and 3mm wire, 40mm aperture stainless steel weld mesh to meet the requirements of PD 5304:2005 Safety of Machinery. It enclosed the stainless steel lift to a height of 2200mm on three sides and to a height of 1000mm at the front. There was a removable section of guarding to allow good maintenance access. The stainless steel lift control system was interfaced with the infeed modular belt conveyor and the rest of the production facility.

Modular Belt Conveyor
The gut was dropped onto this inclined Modular Belt Conveyor and conveyed into the 300 Litre Hopper for tipping. The conveyor was manufactured with the following features:-
- Manufactured from Grade 304 Stainless Steel
- Conveyor Length – 5130mm
- Conveyor Belt Width – 1010mm
- Conveyor Infeed Height – 380mm
- Conveyor Outfeed Height – 850mm
- Conveyor Outlet Chute discharged into tipper skip at approximately 425mm high
- Conveyor was fitted with 130mm high fixed & hinged side guides
- Mounted on M16 stainless steel adjustable feet
- Underside of conveyor was fitted with a drip tray and spray bar connected to an existing water supply
- The conveyor was fitted with a Lenz Drive and a local motor isolator
Stainless Steel Lift Application Story
This guarded stainless steel lift was designed to lift and tip at two different heights onto separate stainless steel chutes to segregate good produce from bad. The stainless steel lift was fully guarded and its normal operation was automated in conjunction with the rest of the production line.
